The 2025 recruitment class for ASU Football keeps building and not even 24 hours after San Clemente (Calif.) High School linebacker Lee Fuimaono committed, another prospect is heading to Tempe.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! On his X (formerly Twitter) account, Centennial (Calif.) High School wide receiver Cory “CJ” Butler announced that he has set his sights on becoming a Sun Devil, committing to Arizona State.
“ALL GLORY TO GOD!! I’M HOME,” Butler said in his post.
The 5-foot-8 wideout went on an official visit recently and took time to make an important decision, Butler has made his choice. Other schools that he received offers from were Boise State, Arizona, BYU, Kansas, UMass, Oregon, Oregon State, UNLV, Utah and Colorado.
Off the gridiron and on the track, Butler is lightning quick, boasting a 10.55 in the 100m and 21.43 in the 200m.
According to 247Sports, the Corona native is ranked as the No. 48 best player in California High School football. Butler, a three-star recruit will be graduating in 2025, so he will look to work on all facets of his game in his senior season.
247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins believes Butler can be an offensive weapon that will burst past the opposition.
“Butler projects as ideal slot receiver at the next level,” Biggins said. “He shows both initial quickness and the long speed to get behind a defense as well. He’s shifty with the ball in his hands and always looks like a threat to make a big play. He’s the fastest player on the Centennial team and clocked a 21.94 MPH on the Catapult GPS during his junior season. Butler can return punts and kicks and is an explosive route runner as well, showing the ability to easily turn a corner around. He reminds us a little of former Husky standout Gary Bryant (USC/Oregon) in terms of his size and playing style and should be recruited at the national level this spring.”
Butler is the 11th recruitment for ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham’s squad which ranks 16th in the nation for 2025.
