Involved in a blockbuster trade on Feb. 6 between Phoenix and the Chicago Sky, Copper finished as the third-highest scorer in the WNBA this year, averaging a career-high 21.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. She recorded nine 30-plus point games, which was second in the league to Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson (11) and the second-most in Mercury history behind Diana Taurasi’s 10 in 2008.
During the early stages of the season, she made league history by becoming the first player to ever record back-to-back 37-plus point games. Copper scored a career-high 38 points against the Atlanta Dream on May 18 and followed it up with 37 points vs. the Las Vegas Aces on May 21.
Copper totaled 782 points, the 11th most in WNBA history and third most in Mercury franchise history. Taurasi accumulated 860 points in 2006 and 820 in 2008.
The Rutgers product’s eventful year also saw her become a four-time WNBA All-Star (2021-24) and a gold medalist for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Copper is the eighth Mercury player to be an All-WNBA Team honoree, joining Taurasi (14 selections), Brittney Griner (6), Skylar Diggins-Smith (3), Jennifer Gillom (2), Penny Taylor (2), DeWanna Bonner (1) and Cappie Pondexter (1). She is also the third player to make an All-WNBA Team in their debut season in Phoenix, with Taurasi and Diggins-Smith.
