The Los Angeles Rams are placing star wide receiver Puka Nacua on injured reserve with a PCL injury ahead of their Week 2 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, coach Sean McVay told reporters Monday.

Nacua went out late in the first half of last night’s 26-20 loss to the Detroit Lions with the knee injury and attempted to return, but was unable to, finishing his night with four catches for 35 yards.

Nacua was a second-team All-Pro in his rookie year last season with the Rams and broke numerous rookie wide receiver records, including receptions (105), receiving yards (1,486), receptions in a game (15) and receiving yards in a playoff game (181).

Last season, Nacua only had 26 and 27 yards in the two games the Rams played against Arizona, both Los Angeles victories.

The Rams will also be without starting offensive lineman Steve Avila, McVay added.

Outside of right tackle Jonah Williams who suffered an undisclosed knee injury, the Cardinals came out of their 34-28 Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills with a pretty clean bill of health.

Sunday’s game kicks off at 1:05 p.m. MST at State Farm Stadium.
