Phoenix Mercury guards Sophie Cunningham and Diana Taurasi summed up what transpired in Sunday’s 97-79 loss to the Las Vegas Aces, the continuous issues surrounding technical fouls, what they will have to work on with the playoffs around the corner and more.

Taurasi received her seventh technical foul of the season which warrants an automatic one-game suspension, but she believes it will be rescinded before Phoenix faces the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday. After her Team USA teammate A’ja Wilson went off with 41 points and 17 rebounds, Taurasi gave her the plaudits she deserves as the best player in the league currently. The Mercury legend tallied nine points and seven rebounds vs. Las Vegas.

Cunningham, who received two techs herself and was ejected against the Minnesota Lynx on Wednesday, acknowledged the issues with officiating, but the team needs to figure out how to stay out of certain situations as well. Coming off the bench, Cunningham scored 16 points against the Aces.
