Garafolo reports:

Source: #49ers All-Pro WR Brandon Aiyuk has officially requested a trade after an offseason of unsuccessful attempts to reach an extension. Despite a recent meeting, the Niners haven’t been willing to engage in negotiations since May so Aiyuk has respectfully asked out.”

Aiyuk is currently on the last year of his rookie contract and set to make $14.1 million this 2024-25 season, which many would consider a bargain for a receiver of his caliber, as four receivers are now making over $30 million per year. The former 2020 first-round pick was not at the team’s mandatory minicamp earlier this month due to wanting a new deal and has had plenty of drama since the 49ers lost in the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 11.

A little less than a month ago, Aiyuk posted a TikTok with his former ASU and current Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels in which he said, “they don’t want me back.”

This was just one event in a whole debacle with San Francisco and Aiyuk.

Aiyuk tallied 75 receptions for a career-high 1,342 yards to go along with seven touchdowns in the 2023-24 season.

He played at Arizona State after joining to the Sun Devils out of junior college in 2018. In his two seasons at ASU, Aiyuk had 98 receptions, 1,666 yards and 11 touchdowns. He broke out his senior year to lead to him becoming a first-round selection.

The Arizona Cardinals have been reportedly tied to Aiyuk as a potential landing spot since this whole drama has gone down. Now, if they really want him, they could make a push for him with Aiyuk officially requesting a trade.
