Previously a US vs. World showcase through the 2019 season, the Futures Game has become a National League vs. American League. Like the All-Star Game, every team is represented in the showcase.
Some of the noted alumni in the Futures Game in Diamondbacks history include Carlos González (2007), Paul Goldschmidt (2011), Archie Bradley (2013), Corbin Carroll (2022), and Jordan Lawlar (2022, 2023).
The Automatic Balls and Strikes System will be in effect in the game, allowing batters to challenge strike calls. As we saw in the Spring Breakout game against the Rockies’ top prospects, an overturned call on a challenge could have a huge effect.
The game’s play-by-play will be handled by Melanie Newman, who calls game for the Baltimore Orioles. Former MLB player Mark DeRosa and MLB Pipeline writer Jonathan Mayo will be the analysts. Sande Charles will be reporting from the field.
