Finishing with 5,000 less votes than Luis Arraez, who was just recently sent to the San Diego Padres, Ketel Marte finds himself somehow in 2nd place in the National League All-Star voting for 2nd base.

This is despite Marte putting up a legitimate MVP case during the first couple of months of the season. Marte is currently 3rd in oWAR, 1st in dWAR, and 1st in bWar among all National League players. Yes, Marte even leads Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani.

In the field, Marte leads all of baseball with 11 defensive runs saved and has a bettering fielding % than Luis Arraez.

While Arraez may be a hit machine, as he leads the league in hits and batting average, Marte has his number in just about every other statistical category, which is evident in a side-by-side comparison via Stathead Baseball.

If Marte were to make the All-Star game this July, it would be his 2nd.

Other members of the Diamondbacks that are in the All-Star Game race include:

  • Christian Walker, 6th in 1st baseman voting, (Bryce Harper #1)
  • Gabriel Moreno, 6th in catcher voting, (William Contreras #1)
  • Eugenio Suarez, 10th in 3rd baseman voting, (Alec Hohm #1)
  • Lourdes Gurriel Jr., 11th in outfielder voting, (Jurickson Profar #1)
