After running down a line drive to center field in the 7th inning of Arizona’s 12-5 win over the Chicago White Sox on Father’s Day, Corbin Carroll exited the ballgame early with the trainer as he grabbed his side.

Then, Torey Lovullo noted that Carroll would be getting MRIs on his side and that it was uncertain if he would be ready for the Diamondbacks’ upcoming series against the Washington Nationals, which begins on Tuesday.

But, according to Nick Piecoro at the Arizona Republic, Carroll received positive news from the MRIs and even went to Salt River Fields to test out how he felt.

Per Nick, Carroll should be in the Diamondbacks starting lineup on Tuesday, unless something happens within the next 24 hours.

This is great news for the D-backs considering the production they have received from Carroll this month. The 2023 National League Rookie of the Year is currently riding a 17-game on-base streak and has improved his season batting average from .184 to .214.

Regarding its significance in the NL Wild Card race, this series is equally vital for the D-backs. Even though the season has lots of time left, teams usually look back on series like this one as the ones that really put them over the brink. The Nationals and Padres are deadlocked for the third and final slot, while the Diamondbacks are .5 games behind for a Wild Card spot as of Tuesday.

The Nationals will enter this week series coming off a three-game sweep over the Marlins and having won 8 of their last 10 games. Last season, the D-backs emerged victouries in five of their six meetings with Washington.
