BREAKING: Brittney Griner and Bec Allen have been listed as questionable ahead of Mercury versus Lynx on Friday, according to the team.

Griner has been out for all of the Mercury’s 10 games thus far. Suffering a left toe fracture, Griner has been out of action for nearly a month, but has made a steady progression. She was seen out of her boot on May 29, and just participated in her first practice back on Thursday.

Griner looked fluid and healthy moving up-and-down the floor, and her inevitable return to the hardwood seems to be coming soon.

Allen has missed the last five games due to concussion protocol. She had a hard landing against Dallas on May 25, and has been out of action ever since. Allen was also seen practicing for the Mercury on Thursday.

“First, you always want [them] to feel safe,” said head coach Nate Tibbetts after Thursday’s practice. “You never want to put a player out there that’s not comfortable being out there, so I’m sure our medical team is talking to her and making her see where she stands today.”

Phoenix, 4-6, have lost five out of its last six games. Despite a jampacked schedule that has surely been a detriment to the team, the Mercury are in need of a spark as the season closes in on its halfway mark. The additions of Griner and Allen in the lineup will certainly provide that — it now remains to be seen if they’ll grace the hardwood on Friday.

The Phoenix Mercury will host the Minnesota Lynx on Friday, June 7 at 7 p.m. Pacific Time.
