For the fourth consecutive season, Phoenix will only select in the third round, with picks No. 25 and No. 29 this year.

The Mercury did have the No. 3 pick as well, but the team packaged it, players and other future draft choices in a trade to the Chicago Sky involving Kahleah Copper. Not included in the same deal, Chicago also has Phoenix’s second-round (13th overall) pick this evening.

Last year, Kadi Sissoko was selected in the third round (29th overall) by Phoenix and played 40 games in the 2023 season. The French forward averaged 1.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.2 assists for the Mercury.

Before Sissoko, Phoenix also drafted Destiny Harden with the No. 27 pick in 2023 but never played in the WNBA.

Other notable draft choices in Mercury history include both No. 1 picks Diana Taurasi (2004) and Brittney Griner (2013). Most recently, Sophie Cunningham was selected as a second-round (13th overall) pick in 2019.

Able to add a future star, the Indiana Fever has the No. 1 overall pick, with generational talent Caitlin Clark projected to be the best player in the draft.

Tonight, the 2024 WNBA Draft starts inside the Brooklyn Academy of Music at 4:30 PT. To watch, tune into ESPN.
