Geraldo Perdomo Set for MRI Evaluation Amid Knee Injury Concerns

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (2) throws to first after forcing out New York Yankees base runner Gleyber Torres (25) to complete a double play during the first inning at Chase Field in Phoenix on April 2, 2024.

Currently listed as day-to-day, Diamondbacks’ shortstop Geraldo Perdomo attempted running drills ahead of their game against the Braves on Friday.

However, Perdomo disclosed experiencing knee pain, prompting the need for MRIs to determine the extent of his injury.

Perdomo initially injured his knee during the latter part of the Diamondbacks’ loss against the Yankees a few days back.

In his absence, Jace Peterson started at shortstop on Friday, with rookie Blaze Alexander taking over in the final innings. Unfortunately, Alexander’s time at shortstop was marred by a costly error in the 9th, allowing the Braves to score two runs, tying the game and sending it into extra innings.

The Braves ultimately won 5-4, marking Arizona’s second straight game where they suffered a loss in extra innings.

Geraldo Perdomo, who was elected to his first career All-Star game last season, committed just four errors throughout the year.

Other Diamondbacks currently battling through injuries include Alek Thomas, Paul Sewald, and Eduardo Rodriguez.
