This performance on the mound helped boost the Reno Aces to a 4-2 win in their season opener against the Las Vegas Aviators.
It will also a very promising performance considering the season Cecconi had with the Aces last year. In 2023, Cecconi struggled down in Triple-A, posting a 6.11 ERA in 23 starts.
However, due to the D-backs lack-of-depth in their starting rotation, Cecconi still had the opportunity to make his major league debut back in August. In seven starts, he allowed 13 earned runs in 27 innings. In six of his seven starts in the majors, Cecconi allowed two runs or less.
After being selected in the 1st round of the 2020 draft, Cecconi initially ranked as the Diamondbacks’ #7 prospect, but he has since dropped to #18.
