For the second week in a row, slugger Jake McCarthy has earned the title of Pacific Coast League Player of the Week, marking a historic milestone as the first player in Reno Aces history to achieve this honor.

And it was for good reason.

McCarthy is currently on an impressive 15-game hit streak, boasting a remarkable 33 hits out of 72 plate appearances for a batting average of .458. His performance during this stretch includes driving in 14 RBIs, scoring 22 runs (with at least one run scored in every game), and hitting four home runs in his last seven games.

The former first-round pick of the Diamondbacks has elevated his batting average with the Aces this season to an impressive .360. Given his current form, it appears to be just a matter of time before they decide to call him back up to the majors.

Jake spent the entirety of the year, up until August 13th, with the D-backs. He was sent down after a rough August that consisted of a 5/26 (.192) hitting performance.

With the Wild Card race coming down to the wire, McCarthy’s hot bat is just what the Diamondbacks need at the bottom of their lineup.
