Pederson’s impressive performance at the plate began with a double in the bottom of the 1st inning. Then, in the 3rd, he hit an infield single that drove Ketel Marte home, extending the Diamondbacks’ lead to 3-1.
In the 6th inning, Pederson reached base again with another infield single and subsequently scored on a hit by Eugenio Suarez.
Finally, in the 7th, he clinched a perfect 4-4 game with a single up the middle.
Pederson, who signed a one-year contract with the Diamondbacks on January 25th, is primarily serving as the designated hitter this season, with additional responsibilities as an outfield backup as needed.
