Just like on Opening Day, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went yard in the 1st inning. This time, he was joined by Christian Walker as the two went back-to-back.

In the 6th inning, the Diamondbacks further widened their lead by adding four runs, all with no outs. The scoring spree began with Joc Pederson, who reached first on an infield single, and concluded with Alek Thomas sending a ball soaring into the right field bleachers.

Joc Pederson, in his Diamondbacks debut, had a perfect day at the plate, going 4-4, including a double and three singles.

Merrill Kelly started on the mound for Arizona, and aside from conceding a home run in the 2nd inning, he effortlessly worked through the Rockies’ lineup. Kelly pitched 6.2 innings, allowing just one run and striking out eight batters.

Following Kelly, Joe Mantiply took over in the 7th inning, surrendering two earned runs on three hits.

The Diamondbacks are set to continue their series tomorrow at 5:10 PM, with Tommy Henry expected to start.
