Due to a cable issue preventing the Diamondbacks from closing the roof while fans are inside Chase Field, Arizona’s second-to-last Spring Training game was cut short due to rain, marking the franchise’s first-ever rain delay at the stadium.

Although they likely could have played through the brief storm, with another game scheduled for the following afternoon, neither manager showed eagerness to continue.

Before the rain intervened, Tommy Henry capitalized on the shortened night with six shutout innings, allowing just six hits. Henry revealed just before the game’s premature conclusion that manager Torey Lovullo had informed him of his inclusion on the Opening Day roster.

Given Henry’s dominance and the rain-shortened game, Arizona did not need to utilize additional pitchers.

Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks’ offense ignited early with a three-run 2nd inning, led by Christian Walker’s mammoth 451-ft home run and Geraldo Perdomo’s two-out, two-RBI double.

Arizona added one run each in the 3rd, 4th, and 6th innings. Alek Thomas went 2-2 at the plate, including a double in the 2nd inning and a solo home run in the 6th, scoring in all three plate appearances.

The Diamondbacks will face the Guardians again tomorrow at 12:40 PM, marking their final game before Opening Day on Thursday.
