After Eduardo Rodriguez departed in the 2nd inning with a left lat injury, Andrew Saalfrank, Chrisitan Montes De Oca and Brandon Hughes combined for four shutout innings.

The Cubs did not get on the board until the 7th, with a double followed by a single, both coming with two outs.

This allowed the Diamondbacks to secure a win solely off a strong 5th inning which started with three straight hits. Blaze Alexander, who is having an excellent spring camp, drove in the first run on the night with a base hit in the gap to drive in Pavin Smith. Smith and Alexander combined for a 5/6 night at the plate.

Then, Geraldo Perdomo and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. got in on the fun with a pair of doubles.

The offensive outburst in the 5th inning came off Kyle Hendricks.

Next up for the Diamondbacks is another meeting with the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday with first pitch at 1:10 PM. Only 7 more games remain before opening day.
