Xavier Worthy makes history
After running an already ridiculous 4.25 on his first attempt, Worthy was not satisfied. He made it clear that his goal was to break the record.
“I ran the first one 4.25, could’ve stopped and just sat down for the rest of the day but I really just wanted to go get that record for myself,” Worthy said following his record-breaking performence.
The Texas product now stands alone as the fastest player in NFL Combine history.

While speed is not everything in a player, it can be immensely valuable in an outside receiver when used correctly. Worthy has struggled with physical play due to his size. However, we have seen time and time again that outside receivers can make up for skinny frames with their talent (e.g., Devonta Smith, Marquise Brown, Jordan Addison, Tank Dell, Darnell Mooney, etc).
Cardinals target?
As expected, this has boosted Worthy’s draft stock significantly.
He was previously projected as an early-mid second-round pick at best. However, the 20-year-old should now be locked in as a first-round pick.
Despite being in a run-heavy offense, Worthy still produced on the Longhorns. In three seasons with the team, he totaled 197 receptions for 2755 yards and 26 touchdowns through the air.
Arizona needs a ton of help at wide receiver and Worthy would immediately step in as a day-one starter for the team. Providing Kyler Murray with a generational speedster alongside Marvin Harrison Jr./Malik Nabers would be game-changing.
