From March 6-8, there will be four festive gatherings to help and educate the youth and their families around the state about a variety of different things.

Next Wednesday, March 6, will be the Pantry Kit Building with Valley of the Sun United Way. Campers at Phoenix Raceway can pack pantry kits at Huss Brewing Co. Ale House from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

“Pantry kits will provide children, families and veterans with essential, shelf-stable meals to combat food insecurity,” according to a press release from Phoenix Raceway.

March 7 will be “STEM Day at Phoenix Raceway.” The track is having 500 students from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m to come and”engage in fun, educational activities that highlight the science behind motorsports.”

Also next Thursday, the City of Avondale’s Sam Garcia Library will host “Story Time with Frankie Muniz, Avondale Library.” From 11 a.m. until noon, this is where the raceway and library are collaborating with a race car story time for children in the nearby communities.

“Children will participate in racing activities, take photos with a pace car and hear from NASCAR Xfinity Series driver and actor Frankie Muniz.”

Wrapping up the events till race weekend itself, Friday is when the “NASCAR Foundation Speediatrics Fun Day Festival” kicks off.

“The NASCAR Foundation will host students from Arizona Desert Elementary School at Phoenix Raceway for the Speediatrics Fun Day Festival. The NASCAR-themed field day promotes healthy lifestyle habits for children in local racing communities through racing-themed lifestyle programming.”

As for the racing, the Shriners Children’s 500 takes place at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 10.
