Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has been making waves this season, as the 22-year-old has propelled himself to being one of the top players in the NBA.

Edwards has helped Minnesota reach the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference by averaging 26.3 points on 47% shooting, 5.3 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 52 contests.

Edwards has always had a lot of praise for one player in particular of who he looks up to: Kevin Durant.

In a recent interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, Edwards called Durant his “G.O.A.T.”

“My G.O.A.T., this going to sound crazy, but Kevin Durant,” Edwards said. “I’ve always been a fan, just watching him play as a kid. He’s the first 7-footer I’ve seen putting the ball on the floor, scoring off the dribble, so I’ve always been a big fan.”

This is by far not the first time Edwards has said this.

The respect is mutual, as Durant said Edwards could be the face of the NBA in the next 10 years.

Durant has said he wants to be in the greatest players of all time conversation, so it is a huge endorsement to have one of the league’s young stars say this about him.

Even more so, this highlights the respect level between Durant and young players in the NBA.

Durant recently talked about the next generation of NBA players in an interview with the Washington Post.

“Those older guys didn’t want to just say, ‘Here, young’un, you the next one up.’ You had to try to take that from them,” Durant says. “I’m not going out there and relying on my name and what I’ve done in the past to get that respect. I respect that about the young players. They don’t give a s— about what you did in the past. It’s about today. So that keeps me on point.”
