Barrett-Jackson had a massive “Super Saturday” on Jan. 27 as there were multiple cars eclipsing $1 million or more in Scottsdale, but there was a clear cut leader.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Taking the cake, a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe sold for $3.41 million, the highest price that the auction saw a car cross the block for in 2024 so far.
One of just 311 300SL Gullwings were crafted by the German automobile manufacture in Stuttgart.
First made as just a race car, this model from Mercedes then constructed for street use, but in “limited production.”
According to the Barrett-Jackson official website, they said what makes this car is so intriguing is that “Today, the unforgettable 300SL ranks among the most collectible and valuable of all postwar sports cars.”Â
Wearing a silver gray metallic exterior, running on six cylinders and a 4-speed manual transmission, both Gullwing and Mercedes fans were in awe of what just appeared before them.
This fully restored masterpiece caught the eyes of many bidders, garnering a bidding war until the gargantuan total was hammered in.
Sunday is the final day before the first Barrett-Jackson auction of 2024 concludes. The company will then return later this year in October for a fall auction.
