Kevin Durant reached this crazy feat for first time in his career and Suns’ franchise history

At 35 years old and one of the best players the NBA has seen, there’s not much more single-game accomplishments Kevin Durant can reach.

However, in the Phoenix Suns’ (24-18) 117-110 victory over the Indiana Pacers (24-19) last night, he did something for the first time in his career and in franchise history to help Phoenix win its fifth straight game.

Durant became the 14th player in NBA history to reach 40 points without attempting a free throw.

He also shot 18-for-25 (72%) from the field, his tenth game in his career scoring 40 or more points on 70% shooting or better.

“I have not (seen that before),” Devin Booker said of Durant’s historic night. “Super impressive, but at the same time, it doesn’t surprise me. The efficiency is on a whole ‘nother level.”

For the second straight game, Durant, Booker and Bradley Beal combined for 91 points between the three of them. This was the first time in Suns’ history a trio of teammates have scored 90 points or more in two consecutive games.

“They played it straight up, and they were switching everything, we just tried to do our best to be aggressive going downhill,” Durant said of what worked for the Suns offensively.

Was Durant really not fouled?

Suns’ coach Frank Vogel was a bit confused how Durant drew zero shooting fouls.

“He’s getting hit,” Vogel said. “It’s not like he’s out there and just shooting jump shots the whole time. He’s getting hit on the wrist and getting shoved in the hip, getting pushed in the back when he’s going to the basket. We’ll be sending some clips in (to the NBA) on tonight’s game.”

Durant actually did not feel like there were a lot of missed calls.

“I wouldn’t say that tonight was one of those nights (with a bunch of missed calls),” Durant said. “You can send clips in every night on behalf of your team, but it is what it is. I think that’s a physical team we’re playing against. There’s going to be calls that may be missed; there’s going to be physicality that may not be seen, but that’s just part of the game.”

No matter what the case is, the Suns still got the W. They will look to make it six in a row against the Chicago Bulls (21-23) tonight.
