The four technical fouls committed by ASU played a huge part in the Bruins’ comeback. UCLA shot 21 free throws in the second half, compared to ASU’s 10 free throw attempts during the final 20 minutes of play.
Not only did the technicals impact the free throw disparity, but they caused an ejection as well. Two of the techs were given to center Shawn Phillips Jr., resulting in him being ejected with 13 minutes left to play.
This ejection, along with the rest of the technicals given, had Hurley, the rest of the team, and the fans hot.
Arizona State freshman big Shawn Phillips just got a pair of technical fouls called on him. Tossed with 10:10 to play and ASU’s 15 point second half lead on UCLA already cut to 6, with a bunch of free throws coming. pic.twitter.com/iondQOJ4qN
