5. John Henry Johnson – 1962

John Henry Johnson was a second round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1953 NFL draft. He had his best season as a fullback for the Steelers in 1962. He ran for 1,141 yards and seven touchdowns on 4.5 yards per carry.

4. Rachaad White – 2023

White played for ASU from 2020-2021. In 2021 he ran for 1,006 yards and 15 touchdowns. White was also big in the pass game, he caught 43 passes for 456 yards and one touchdown.

That season led to him being a third round pick in the 2022 NFL draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In his second season, White ran for 990 yards and six touchdowns while also catching 64 passes for 549 yards.

3. Gerald Riggs – 1986

Gerald Riggs played for Arizona State from 1978-1981. He was the ninth overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons in the 1982 NFL draft.

He had a three year run where he ran for at least 1,300 yards each season. The third most productive of those seasons was 1986. He ran for 1,327 yards and nine touchdowns on 3.9 yards per carry.

2. Gerald Riggs – 1984

Riggs ran for 1,486 yards and 13 touchdowns on 4.2 yards per carry in 15 games.

1. Gerald Riggs – 1985

Riggs’ best season as a pro was in 1985. He ran for 1,719 yards and 10 touchdowns for 4.3 yards per carry.

Rachaad White has a long way to go to put up the stats that Gerald Riggs did. Only time will tell if White will get the opportunity to carry an offense in that way.
