The Aztecs (8-6) won the three games before this one and had immense momentum as a team.
They now take a crushing two-point loss to Gilbert, whom they have already been defeated by this season while participating in the Jungle Holiday Tournament in November. They will face them a third time on Jan. 18.

Corona have looked significantly better than they did last season, regardless of this loss. The team ended last season with a 9-17 record, missing both the 6A and state playoffs.
The Aztecs will next match up against the 15-4 Rancho Solana Prep Mustangs on Wednesday, Jan. 10 @ 6 p.m. MST.
Tigers Turn It Around
After starting the season rolling with a 6-0 record, the Tigers (9-6) began to struggle as they lost six of their next eight games.
Coming off a three-game losing streak, the team was able to put it together and get a close road victory against Corona del Sol on Monday.
Gilbert has shown that it can compete at a high level in the 6A and state but will look to do that consistently as the playoffs approach.
