All the way back in 2002-03, both teams squared off in a unique home-and-home series against one another, splitting 1-1.

In Vegas, the Rebels were able to withstand a late, 10-point push by Kansas as UNLV won 31-20 on Sept. 7, 2002.

The Jayhawks would return the favor the following season by scoring 23 in the third quarter to power them to a 46-24 blowout victory in Lawrence, Kansas.

Ever since then, both teams have not met one another since until this evening, sparking a massive amount of uncertainty with what will happen.

Now at a neutral site inside Chase Field as well, no team will have home-field advantage and it is lining up to produce a football classic in the heart of Phoenix.

Kansas are 8-4 in total this season and closed out 5-4 in the Big 12 Conference.

In contrast, UNLV established a 6-2 record in the Mountain West Conference and were 9-4 overall.

Kick off between the Jayhawks and Rebels starts at 7 p.m. MST on ESPN/ESPN+.
