Former Phoenix Suns forward (1999-2008) Shawn Marion was inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor last night.

A lot of friends and family came to support Marion, including Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki.
It took Marion a long time to finally get his words out to express how emotional this moment was for him, as fans cheered loudly for him after the Suns fell to the Knicks in a very tough loss.Â
A lot of fans have said this was long overdue for Marion, but before the game he said it was “perfect timing” because of what new owner Mat Ishbia is doing for the team.
Marion was drafted No. 9 overall out of UNLV in 1999 by the Suns and traded in a package for Shaquille O’Neal in the 2007-08 season.
Marion played in 680 career games for Phoenix and averaged 18.4 points and 10 rebounds. He also played in 65 playoff games for the Suns, making some memorable playoff runs alongside Steve Nash and A’mare Stoudamire.
He was a 4× NBA All–Star (2003, 2005–2007) and 2× All–NBA Third Team (2005, 2006) with the Suns.
As for where he ranks in team history, Marion is second in rebounds and fifth in points. His 680 games ranks sixth in franchise history. He is No. 2 for the Suns in minutes played at 24,948.
Stoudamire will be inducted into team’s Ring of Honor on March 2.
