The Phoenix Mercury had a tough go of it this past season as they finished with a record of 9-31. This was the worst record in the WNBA last season. It followed the 2022 season where they were 15-21.

The WNBA lottery odds are configured by a combination of the records from the past two seasons. The Mercury had a combined record of 24-52 which landed them the second best odds to get the number one overall pick behind the Indiana Fever.

Did the balls land in the Mercury’s favor?

Phoenix ended up with the third overall pick and now the question is who should they take? The presumed number one overall pick is Iowa Hawkeye guard Caitlin Clark. The number two pick may be Stanford Center Cameron Brink.

The options that would be available for Phoenix at that point would be Louisiana State stars Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith and Connecticut standouts Aaliyah Edwards and Paige Bueckers, among others. It will be very interesting to see what direction the Mercury go in.

Is Angel Reese Worth The Risk As A Top Pick for the Phoenix Mercury?
