They were the No. 1 ranked team in the state before this loss and may very well drop because of it.
Mesa started the game very slowly and scored just seven points in the second quarter.
Despite the loss, the team has undeniably looked like a championship contender this season.
Salpointe Gains Momentum
A win against the top-ranked team in the entire state is something to be proud of.
The Lancers are now 7-2 on the season and look much better than they did last season.

After going just 15-13 last season, Salpointe Catholic is pushing to make a competitive push this year.
Long Season Remaining
While this was a big game for the teams, there are still about 15 games remaining and a long season ahead.
Both Salpointe Catholic and Mesa have started their seasons on a strong note and are looking to continue that level of play for the next few months.
