The contract keeps Samples at ASU through 2025, but it is not known how much it is for. This is the first assistant extension we have seen this year.
The Wide Receiver room did not have a great year outside Elijhah Badger. However, when you are building a culture, it is important to maintain continuity with the coaching staff, which is the same reason why Coach Kenny Dillingham offered Defensive Coordinator Brian Ward an extension earlier this year. Samples is also a fantastic recruiter. According to Chris Karpman he is a top ten recruiter in the Big 12.
This is one of two big coaching extensions for Dillingham’s staff. Cornerback Coach Bryan Carrington also received an extension. This comes after the hiring of new offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo. The receiving room and passing game was a huge hole for ASU this year, mainly due to injuries, but he will be a big piece of the puzzle going forward.
