Saguaro (9-5) entered the 6A playoffs as the No. 3 seed and did not have much trouble at all in their four playoff contests. The team scored over 40 points in each game and proved to be the most dominant squad in the bracket.
Senior quarterback Mason Bray’s first season starting with the team was a success, to say the least. Bray threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns in his final game for the Sabercats.

Sabercats junior offensive lineman Peyton Clemons stated that they simply could not be stopped earlier this week, and that was more than evident in this game.
Red Mountain Falls Short
Despite the loss, Red Mountain (7-7) undeniably had an incredible season and playoff run as the No. 12 seed.
The team defeated No. 1 seed Brophy Prep to advance to the title game. They made a statement this season and will not be slept on as a contender in the future.

Zak Hill’s First Year As Head Coach
Former Arizona State University and Boise State assistant coach Zak Hill was named Saguaro’s head coach at the start of 2023. Hill brought that college experience to the Sabercats and it resulted in success. The coach now holds a state championship in his very first season with the team.
There were a lot of expectations for Zak Hill in his first year at the helm of Saguaro.
