Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham Reacts to Florida State Star Jordan Travis’s Injury

Arizona State’s Head Coach Kenny Dillingham spent one year at Florida State as their Offensive Coordinator. During that time, Dillingham worked with a young QB from West Palm Beach. That QB was Jordan Travis. Travis has now become one of the top QBs in college football, was a Heisman candidate, and had a chance to be a first-round pick. All that went down the drain as he suffered a gruesome leg injury Saturday versus Georgia Southern.

Dillingham learned about this injury after Arizona State’s blowout loss to Oregon.

“I actually called his dad directly after the game before I got into the press conference.” Dillingham said, “He’s in good spirits. I’ve talked with him three or four times on the phone between then and now. That’s an unbelievable kid who’s battled through so much. To have that happen, it’s absolutely heartbreaking.”

Dillingham has been very vocal about his love for Travis and Oregon star Bo Nix, whom he coached at Auburn and Oregon, so you can tell this really hurts him. Dillingham has developed fantastic QBs. Travis was in the Heisman race before this injury, and this injury almost destroyed any National Championship hope for the Seminoles. They will probably get into the playoffs, but without Jordan Travis, it’s very hard to see them making a run. However, Dillingham believes that Travis will be huge for the Seminoles the rest of the way.

“Anybody who’s been around him knows he is an incredible leader.” Dillingham said, “His presence will still be felt around that program even with him not on the field. He’s still going to make an impact for that football team.”
