First Quarter

The game started with three straight drives that ended with punts as both offenses look to find a groove after struggling last week. On the fourth possession of the game, Seattle was able to get the ball down the field as they scored on a three play, 61-yard drive. The drive was ended with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Geno Smith to Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

The Seahawks were up 7-0 with 5:48 left in the first quarter. On the next drive the Cardinals offense would stall again and go three and out. Arizona would get a big time on the punt after the three and out.

This is the second week in a row that the Cardinals special teams unit was able to force a turnover. Arizona’s offense didn’t do much with the great field position and had to settle for a field goal. Seattle led 7-3 with 1:57 left in the first quarter.

Second Quarter

The Seahawks had a quick drive that ended in a punt after the Cardinals field goal. The Cardinals offense finally got going on the next drive. Arizona took eight plays to go 80 yards for the touchdown. The drive was capped off by a 25-yard run by Joshua Dobbs.

Dobbs ran the read-option to perfection on this play. Arizona led 10-7 with 9:11 left in the first half.

The Seahawks came right back with a nice drive of their own. They drove 76 yards in nine plays for a touchdown. The scoring play was a great pass from Geno Smith to Jake Bobo.

Initially Bobo was ruled to have caught the ball out of bounds. Seattle challenged the ruling on the field and the call was overturned. Bobo was able to get his left foot down as well as touch the toes of his right foot down while hauling in a one-handed catch with a defender draped on him. Seattle led 14-10 with 4:40 left in the second quarter.

On the following drive the Cardinals had a long drive that didn’t yield many yards. The drive was 13 plays for only 26 yards. A Hailmary attempt was knocked down by the Seahawks to end the half. Seattle 14 – Arizona 10.

Players of the Half

Seattle’s offense had a good half as Geno Smith was 12/15 for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Kenneth Walker III had 10 carries for 61 yards. The leading receiver was Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 4 receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown.

For the Cardinals, Joshua Dobbs was 8/18 for 64 yards. He also had 33 yards rushing and one touchdown. Outside of the one touchdown drive the offense didn’t really move the ball at all.
