Returning to the valley, the ‘Yotes split a four-game roadtrip with three on the East Coast in New York and New Jersey before rounding out in St. Louis.

In their last outing, Arizona won 6-2 against the St. Louis Blues on Oct. 19.

As for Anaheim, they have had a very difficult schedule up to this point, but were able to pull off a shock win.

First, the Ducks started the season against 2022-23 Stanley Cup Champions, the Vegas Golden Knights, and lost 4-1 on Oct. 14.

However the next day, Anaheim pulled off an upset as they beat NHL powerhouse, the Carolina Hurricanes, 6-3.

Trying to cause even more chaos, the Ducks nearly beat Central Division favorites in the Dallas Stars as they only lost 3-2 even though Anaheim had more shots.

To conclude the preseason, both teams played three games against each other, so they should be very familiar with one another.

In the exhibition’s, Arizona won the series 2-1.

The Ducks pulled off a 5-4 comeback win in Palm Springs, California on Oct. 1.

Then, Arizona won 4-2 on Oct. 5 before demolishing Anaheim in Tucson 7-1 on Oct. 7.

Here is all you need to know before the Ducks and Coyotes battle:

Pregame Notes

Returning to the Ducks lineup, 2023 second-overall draft pick Leo Carlsson scored in his first game against the Stars after picking up an injury before the preseason game in Tucson.

As the leading goal scorer, Anaheim winger Frank Vatrano had a hat-trick against the Hurricanes to have 3 goals at this point.

Since re-signing with the Ducks right before the regular season started, defenseman Jamie Drysdale is off to a quick start as he has 2 assists in 2 games.

At the time of reporting, Drysdale will be a game-time decision of if he plays or not as he endured a lower body injury against the Stars.

Also, Ducks center Adam Henrique was ruled out with an illness last game and may also be sidelined for today’s matinee.

Looking to heat up again, Anaheim forward Trevor Zegras only has 1 assist in 3 games so far after signing a three-year contract in October.

A year ago, Zegras was the Ducks leading point-getter as he registered 65 points in 81 contests.

The usual suspects for the Coyotes, wingers Clayton Keller and Nick Schmaltz both lead the team with 5 points this season.

In his first four NHL games of his career, Arizona rookie Logan Cooley has 4 assists.

Last season, the ‘Yotes had a 1-0-2 record against Anaheim.

In January of this year, these two teams played each other twice in a week as the Ducks won both contests 5-2 on Jan. 24 and 2-1, in overtime, on Jan. 28.

On Apr. 8, Coyotes center Barrett Hayton scored the game-winner in OT in a 5-4 victory at Mullett Arena.
