Kevin Durant Defends Himself and Suns’ Big 3 on X

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a Kevin Durant fan interaction on X (Twitter), but today Durant shared his thoughts on a comment he made yesterday at practice.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

“You can’t guard all of us at once,” Durant said of him, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. The trio combined for 49 of the Suns’ 76 first half points during Monday’s preseason victory.

Here’s the full quote:

“(We got) guys that command respect out there,” Durant said. “When Book(er) drives to the rim, it’s gonna be guys coming over and converging. Same with Bradley. Same with myself. (And) on different areas of the floor, so that can open up everything for everyone. You can’t guard all of us at once, especially when guys like Book can command a double team. Myself, Brad can command double teams, it’s going to be tough on the backside. If we play fundamentally sound ball, don’t turn the ball over, rebound, we’ll be in solid shape on offense.”

A fan replied to this quote by saying, “Many people have lived to see another day, with 3 scorers.”

Another chimed in by saying that Durant “doesn’t understand that defense isn’t a role players work. Great players are also elite defenders”

Durant responded with: “This man thinks a 17 year vet doesn’t understand basketball. Lord help this brother.”

The original fan replied with: “No. We completely understand, you know Basketball KD. That’s not it. What we are saying, some teams have role players and 1 scorer, and win games against a stacked scoring team. How many wins? Who knows, but we aren’t testing your knowledge. We are testing the strategy.”

Then, Durant entered his trolling mode: “My bad genius. U win. Enjoy your day.”

Durant and the Suns next play Thursday night against the Lakers in Palm Springs for their last preseason game.
