Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman Did What in the NLDS?

Mookie Betts will be runner-up for NL MVP, and Freddie Freeman hit .331 with nearly 30 HRs. Those two dominated at the 1-2 spot in the lineup all season. They are two of the best hitters in baseball.

The Diamondbacks shut them down.

Freddie Freeman hit an infield single in the first inning of Game 2. That was the only hit between these two superstars in the entire series. That’s right, two Hall of Famers combined for one hit in the Playoffs.

That statement is a testament to how underrated the Diamondbacks’ pitching is and a really good testament to how good they will continue to be.

Mookie Betts has averaged a hit a game in the postseason in his career. Freddie Freeman averages just more than a hit per game.

Now, if the D’backs can do this versus Freeman and Mookie, what could they do versus Matt Olson, Ronald Acuna, Trae Turner, or Bryce Harper? That remains to be seen, but the D’backs fans should be incredibly excited about this performance.
