Standing out from the rest, former 2021 first round pick Guenther was sent down to the Tucson Roadrunners to start the 2023-24 season.

After playing 33 games last year with the ‘Yotes, Guenther was sent back to juniors as he played the remainder of the season with the Seattle Thunderbirds in the Western Hockey League.

With 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 in 20 games for Seattle, Guenther came into preseason looking to fight for a spot on the Coyotes roster this campaign.

Instead, he will start in the AHL and may get promoted to the NHL at some point.

Another surprise was seeing Boyd being placed on waivers.

While on the Coyotes, Boyd played two seasons and had 69 points in 156 games.

Last week, it looked like Boyd would have been fighting for a spot on the fourth line for Arizona with fellow center Jack McBain also up for contention, but Boyd will have to look elsewhere for another opportunity.

As for Sanford and Prosvetov, both were signed in the offseason to NHL contracts, so they will need to clear waivers before going to Tucson.

Coming overseas, Coyotes sixth-round pick in 2022, Szuber will get his first taste of professional, North American hockey with the Roadrunners.

Over in Germany, Szuber had three goals and seven assists in 10 games last year for EHC München in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL).

Call-ups

Because of the moves, defenseman Michael Kesselring and Vladislav Kolyachonok have been recalled to Arizona for the Roadrunners.

After being traded to the Coyotes during the 2023 trade deadline, Kesselring split time with the Roadrunners and in the NHL.

With Kolyachonok, he had three goals and 18 assists for 21 points in 71 games in Tucson last season.

Coyotes preseason ends with a 7-1 statement victory
