Being an underdog is nothing new for the Arizona Diamondbacks, after all, they were given a slim 9% chance of making the playoffs before the 2023 season even began.

Then, after sneaking into the postseason as the 6th and final Wild Card team in the National League, they were once again underdogs as they travelled to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers in a best of three series.

And we all know how that went.

Not only did the Diamondbacks advance to the next round in just two games, but they did so with a dominant performance, outscoring the Brewers 11-0 in innings 3-9 across the two games.

Arizona’s bullpen was nails, and their offense brought the power to push them into the Divisional round.

Where, once again, all odds are piled against them.

As they prepare for the Divisional round, which kicks off on Saturday, the Diamondbacks face the worst odds with +1400 chances of becoming the next World Series champions. Their opponents, the Los Angeles Dodgers, hold the second-best odds at +425.

Adding to the challenge, the Dodgers are sending three-time Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw to the mound, who boasted an impressive 2.46 ERA this season.

In his two appearances against the Diamondbacks this year, Kershaw pitched a total of 11 innings while allowing just two earned runs. The Diamondbacks were outscored in these games by a substantial margin, 19-2.

Now, the pressing question is: can the Diamondbacks keep the underdog story rolling, or are the Dodgers just too big of a task to handle?
