Diamondbacks advance to NLDS with 5-2 win over Brewers

In a strikingly similar fashion to Game 1, the Arizona Diamondbacks secured their passage to the NLDS with a remarkable come-from-behind victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.

With Zac Gallen on the mound for Arizona, the Brewers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning.

Gallen allowed three base hits and walked one batter as the Brewers sent seven players to the plate.

However, following this speedbump, Zac Gallen turned the heat up a notch and allowed just two more hits in the next five innings.

The Brewers ultimately did not score again after their pair of runs in the first.

Which, for the Diamondbacks, set up the perfect opportunity for them to mount another comeback.

After being no-hit through the first four innings, Alek Thomas took Freddy Peralta deep to get Arizona on the board.

Then, in the 6th inning, the Diamondbacks’ offense truly came alive, propelling them into the lead and creating a comfortable cushion.

Although the inning didn’t feature monumental hits, the Diamondbacks utilized their speed to manufacture opportunities.

Due to a high pitch count, Zac Gallen exited the game after six innings, setting the stage for another stellar bullpen performance from the Diamondbacks’ relievers.

Andrew Saalfrank, who made his major league debut in September, skillfully navigated a bases-loaded, two-out situation that he inherited from Kevin Ginkel.

Next up for the Diamondbacks is a trip to the NLDS, where they will face a familiar foe in the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Interestingly, the last time the D-backs reached the playoffs, back in 2017, they were swept in a best-of-five series against their NL West rivals.

This series will begin on Saturday; times have yet to be released.
