In the final six games of last season, Cardinals WR Marquise Brown averaged just 37 receiving yards.

This was primarily due to the team’s quarterback instability, cycling through backup, third-string, and even fourth-string QBs.

The instability led to the unexpected offseason departure of DeAndre Hopkins, a future Hall of Famer, as it became apparent that Kyler Murray wouldn’t be available to start the new season.

And now, with Week One of the 2023 season in the books, Marquise Brown finds himself on Bleacher Report’s trade radar.

In Sunday’s game, he hauled in just three catches for 28 yards. His quarterback, Joshua Dobbs, making his third career start, could only manage 132 passing yards.

From Bleacher Report: “During the 2022 draft, the Arizona Cardinals traded a first-round pick to acquire wideout Marquise Brown from the Baltimore Ravens. The move gave Arizona another pass-catcher to pair with DeAndre Hopkins and reunited Brown with his college quarterback, Kyler Murray. Hopkins was released in the offseason, and Murray continues to recover from last season’s torn ACL. Arizona may not be publicly tanking for a 2024 QB prospect like Caleb Williams, but it certainly isn’t going all-in on winning in 2023.”

As for a possible destination, B/R points to the Detroit Lions and the San Francisco 49ers as potential interested parties.

While Jonathan Gannon has insisted that no rebuild is in progress, it is hard to watch the Cardinals without assuming so.

The idea of trading away Brown could provide Arizona with an opportunity to acquire another defensive weapon in preparation for next year’s draft.
