Burn City Best Bets: Diamondbacks-Cubs Game One

© Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

On Thursday, September seventh, the Arizona Diamondbacks are on the road to take on the Chicago Cubs with a 4:40 first pitch. In this article as always, we’re going to jump in and look at some of the lines for the game.

Game lines

So first things first, we’re going to take a look at the money line. Arizona is currently the underdog with a line at +140. Now listen I know the Cubs are playing good ball, they’ve won four straight and just swept the Giants. But, the Diamondbacks are fresh off of a win where they crushed the baseball, and they have new comer Jordan Lawlar tonight. Lawlar is one of the top prospects in baseball and the Diamondbacks have been fueled by young energy all year.

As far as game lines go, I’m taking the under on 0.5 runs scored in the first inning. It’s just my favorite bet and I love the sweat. Also, taking the over on 3.5 runs scored by the Diamondbacks, and then to win the series. Arizona is +240 to take the series, but they’re playing with desperation. Arizona also knows they have to win this series to put themselves in series playoff contention.

Player props

I don’t necessarily like any of the props on hitters. Ketel Marte over 1.5 bases at +130 is juicy, Marte is a leader on this team and is going to play up to the competition. I also liked the under 0.5 hits for Pavin Smith at +105, Smith has just a .187 batting average on the year in the bigs.

Kyle Nelson is on the bump for the Diamondbacks tonight, and I took a couple plays on him. Nelson hasn’t gone over 3.5 strikeouts in three of his last five appearances, which is why I took the under. He’s also gone over 4.5 hits in four of his last five starts, which is why I  locked that in.

All of these lines can be found on DraftKings, let’s go win some money.

The Diamondbacks’ struggles against subpar teams are extremely concerning
