While baseball is often seen as a child’s game, moments like these serve as stark reminders of the harsh business reality within the sport.

Nick Ahmed, the longest-serving player on the roster before his release, dedicated his entire 10-year career to the Diamondbacks.

Throughout his decade in Arizona, Ahmed’s performance on the field earned him two coveted Gold Glove Awards. In total, he played in 888 games, ranking him fifth on the all-time appearances list in a Diamondbacks uniform.

Unfortunately, the past few weeks have been particularly tough for the veteran.

Since August 21st, Ahmed struggled at the plate, managing just one hit in 22 attempts, causing his season batting average to dip to .212 and ultimately leading to his release.

Nevertheless, Nick Ahmed will always be a Diamondbacks legend, as he has been a key part of their roster for the past decade.
