Zach Davies, who entered tonight with a 1-5 record and a 6.93 ERA, tossed six innings while allowing just one earned run. This marks two consecutive quality starts for Davies since he was taken off the IL in late August.

After the Orioles put up one run on two hits in the first inning, Davies allowed just two additional singles and tossed five more shutout innings.

And a Lourdes Gurriel Jr. two-run bomb in the bottom of the first helped the Arizona native pick up his second win of the season.

All of the Diamondbacks runs in the game came off a pair of two-run home runs. Christian Walker had the other in the 6th inning.

It was his 29th on the season, which leads the Diamondbacks this year.

Meanwhile, besides a blunder in the eighth inning, the Diamondbacks bullpen held strong. This includes shutout innings from Kyle Nelson and Paul Sewald.

The Diamondbacks will now look to secure a series win with Slade Cecconi on the mound tomorrow. First pitch for Game 2 of this series is scheduled for 5:10.
