The 6-foot, 175-pound Smith recorded eight interceptions (returned two for touchdowns), 78 tackles, 13 pass defenses, two punt return TDs and two kick return TDs in his sophomore year last season, according to his Twitter. He is projected to play safety for the Sun Devils.

He is rated as a three-star recruit. Smith was first offered by the Sun Devils on Jan. 23 of this year.

Smith is the Sun Devils’ second commitment in the class of 2025, joining California QB Butter Tollefson. ASU has three defensive back commits from Texas for the 2024 class, making Smith the first for 2025.

Dillingham and the Sun Devils have already made their mark in Big 12 territory.

Dillingham said earlier today he has been strategically recruiting in the region and hired staff such as WR coach Ra’Shaad Samples and CB coach Bryan Carrington to help mainly in Texas.
