The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Johnson chose the Sun Devils over Arkansas and Oregon.

According to the 247 Sports Composite rankings, Johnson is a three-star prospect ranked as the No. 482 player nationally for the 2024 class, 44th best cornerback and 83rd best player in Texas. He was recruited primarily to ASU by defensive back coach Bryan Carrington.

His high school won state last season, and Johnson was named Second Team All-District after he recorded two interceptions, 29.5 tackles, two for loss and had two fumble recoveries for the year, according to his Twitter page. See his Hudl highlights below.

His father is former Louisville cornerback and 11-year NFL veteran and Super Bowl champion Chris Johnson.

Johnson most recently visited ASU on June 9 and also visited them earlier on March 17. He first received an offer from ASU and Carrington on Jan. 26.

Arizona State was featured in Johnson’s top six schools on May 20. He also put SMU, Arkansas, Oregon, Utah and Louisville on his list, but recently narrowed it down to the three schools.

Carrington and wide receiver coach Ra’Shaad Samples have attacked the state of Texas hard in recruiting. Arizona State now has six class of 2024 commits from Texas with Johnson, including two other defensive backs: Tony-Louis Nkuba and Rodney Bimage, who are also top-50 nationally ranked cornerbacks.

Earlier today, San Diego linebacker prospect Martell Hughes committed to ASU. With Johnson’s commitment, ASU now has 16 players for the class of 2024.
