The Suns have been exploring all options regarding Paul’s future over the last couple of weeks back to when reports suggested that the Suns waived Paul before it got rebuked.

If the Suns were to waive him, they could bring him back at a cheaper rate than the $30.8 million that he would be owed on June 28th.

The Suns would still owe him $15 million in dead cap which then they could use the veteran minimum to add on that’s if Paul was willing to come back to play on that contract.

In this case with the trade, there has been teams like the Houston Rockets who were interested in Paul this summer if the James Harden sweepstakes don’t fall through.

Frank Vogel on Chris Paul’s Future: “I’m really hopeful to have an opportunity to work with him”

We’ll see if Mat Ishbia and co. Can get a team willing to want yo take on Paul’s contract but it’ll be a lot harder than people realize.
