Despite Chris Paul being granted $30 million a couple of weeks ago, trade rumors are still circulating around the 18-year veteran and a team that could be interested in his services is the Houston Rockets according to Kelly Iko.

Iko in an article he wrote for the Athletic alluded to how James Harden is the Rockets’ top target in free agency this summer but that Paul could be the Rockets’ second option if that plan doesn’t fall through.

NBA insider Marc Stein had some similar sentiments to say about the idea of Paul being on the move this summer.

“Don’t forget that, as written here in January, Phoenix had already convinced rival teams that it had begun assessing its post-Paul future … with Charlotte’s Terry Rozier, New York’s Immanuel Quickley and Toronto’s Fred VanVleet circulating as potential trade targets four months ago before new owner Mat Ishbia took control of the franchise and pushed for the expensive completion of the Kevin Durant blockbuster with Brooklyn (at a cost of Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and four future first-round picks).”

Paul is also seen as a great fit in Houston based on a mentorship role for the team similar to what he was for the Thunder. The Rockets have young up-and-coming players in Jalen Green and Alperen Segun. A lot of insiders envision Paul being that leader for them in hopes to take them to the next step like he did for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Report: Suns Wanted Both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant At The Trade Deadline

Only time will tell what happens to Paul this summer. Even with the Deandre Ayton rumors, it’s safe to say that outside of Devin Booker and Kevin Durant, nobody is safe in Phoenix.
