Earlier today, news broke out that the NBA announced the final five finalists for the Kareem Abdul-Jabaar Social Justice Champion Award and point guard Chris Paul was one of the five finalists to be a part of the award.

This award is dedicated to the player that’s recognized for pursuing social justice and helping advance Kareem’s life mission for change in equality amongst diverse races.
Paul is a recent graduate from an HBCU college. He supplements pipelines for HBCU graduates, recognizing their potential to diversify traditional workplaces. He has also worked alongside former first lady Michelle Obama to increase student voting engagement for the 2022 midterms by 40 percent.
Chris Paul joins Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry, Memphis Grizzlies’ Jaren Jackson Jr., San Antonio Spurs’ Tre Jones, and Boston Celtics’ Grant Williams as the finalists for this prestigious award.

The winner of this award will be announced during the NBA conference finals round and will receive a $100,000 donation from the NBA to a social justice organization of their choosing. The other four will each select a social justice organization to receive a $25,000 donation contribution on their behalf.
