Zac Gallen’s scoreless inning streak was finally broken after a mighty impressive 28 consecutive shutout innings. It was a Nathaniel Lowe single in the bottom of the first that brought it to an end.

However, Gallen still left the game in the fifth inning with a chance to secure his fifth win of the season. Unfortunately, this lead held by Arizona was quickly diminished as the Rangers offense scored five unanswered runs.

The Diamondbacks had four players finish with two hits, including Ketel Marte, Christian Walker, Dominic Fletcher, and Geraldo Perdomo. Even still, Arizona failed to add any more runs after the third inning.

The Rangers bullpen provided 3.2 innings, allowing just one hit. This is after starter Jon Gray was knocked out in the fifth inning, allowing eight hits.

After the loss, the Diamondbacks dropped to second place in the NL West, a game behind the Dodgers.

Now, MLB’s #51-ranked prospect Brandon Pfaadt will get the start in his major league debut with a chance to even the series.
