Monty Williams speaks on his reaction to the Kevin Durant trade

Suns’ HC Monty Williams spoke about his reaction to the blockbuster Kevin Durant trade just before the deadline.

Williams stated that he actually shed some tears following the trade, per NBA insider Nick Friedell.

“That’s the only time in my coaching that I’ve cried [after a trade].”

Monty was extremely close with both Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson, as he developed a deep emotional connection with the “twins” over the past few seasons.

As one can imagine, losing such a talented duo can be an emotional rollercoaster.

“You know what I mean?” “It’s like you’re crying in one eye and then the other eye is kind of bright.”

Monty coached Kevin Durant previously during the 2015 season over in Oklahoma City, where he served as the assistant head coach.

So far, it still may be too early to tell whether or not the Suns have won the trade. While the Suns are 9-1 when Durant is healthy, Phoenix knows that nothing short of a championship will be considered a success.
